Lord, heal our land

This morning I joined neighbors for the 7th Annual Lord Heal Our Land Prayer Walk. We gathered at the South Jackson Performing Arts Center at 10, walked up to City Hall, and came back to where we started, singing praise songs and praying the whole way. I walked it as one of the folks praying, not as anything else.

#The verse we walked on

The whole morning was built on one passage, 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

That's a big promise, and it starts with us. Humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, turn. It's not a prayer that the other side would change. It's a prayer that we would.

#Who showed up

What struck me most was the people. Folks from different churches, different corners of town, standing on the same sidewalk asking God for the same thing. Prayer leaders and faith leaders from across our community took turns lifting up our schools, our leaders, our families, and Tullahoma itself. You don't see that every day, and it does something to a town when it happens.

If you couldn't make the whole walk, that was built in too. Two-thirds of it happened right at the start point, and anyone who needed to could bring a chair and stay put. Nobody was left out.

None of this happens without Deb Clark. The Lord put this on Deb's heart back in 2020, and here we are, seven walks later, with Him still working through her to bring this town together in prayer. That kind of faithfulness, year after year, is a gift to all of us. Thank you, Deb.
